Adjusting to New Life

This last week and a half has been pretty crazy for us. It all started when we came home from the hospital on Sunday night. We walked into a 96 degree house. Our air conditioning unit went out. Fantastic!!! The funny thing is my parents went out that same weekend. We opened all the windows and thought we could cool it down enough. After Ashlyn had a red face for about 30 minutes I started freaking out. So we went and checked into a hotel down the street. That was where Ashlyn spent her first night away from the hospital.

Then throughout the week, I continued to be in lots and lots of pain from my c-section. I had to keep calling my doctor for more medication. He probably thought I was addicted to it. Come to find out 10 days after Ashlyn was born, I had an infection in my incision which is what was causing all the pain. I am now on medicine to clear that up and it is just starting to work. Finally some relief. I have to give a HUGE thank you to all my family that has helped out this past week. I have such a hard time asking for help but I really needed it. Thank you guys so much!!

Through it all, Ashlyn has been such a great baby. This one baby at a time thing has been nice! Definitely much easier this time around. Here are some pictures of her and the boys. We are enjoying life as a family of 5!!

2 Weeks and Counting

I am now 37 weeks pregnant! I have a scheduled c-section set for August 10th. That is 2 weeks away!! We can't wait! I have been having back labor contractions for weeks now and they keep getting stronger and are now happening more frequently. No they aren't just braxton hicks, the doctor said it is normal for some to have them. It is miserable being pregnant in Arizona in the summer. I thought it wouldn't be that hard but my body thinks otherwise. Thank heavens for Sonic ice!! The boys are so excited for the arrival of their new baby sister. They give her hugs and kisses everyday. We just can't wait and are counting down the days for when she joins our family!!

New Car Seat Cover

My fabulous Mother-in-Law made this car seat cover for our new baby. I have always drooled over the ones on Etsy but refused to pay $85-100 for one. I found a pattern on line for $5, bought the fabric, thread, and bias tape and spent a total of $40 on everything. You can't beat that!! And it turned out even better that I imagined. Thank you so much Debbie!!!

I got really, really mad and.....

There is no way I could possible hurt this little guy!! Just look at that adorable face. He is such a tough guy! I must say he is pretty proud of his new shiner. He loves showing it off to other people. Daddy is proud too! He likes to tell people that Carter and Mason were wrestling and Carter punched Mason in the face. Not at all the story!! He fell off our bed and hit our nightstand. OUCH!!

It's Raining!!

The boys woke up today and looked outside. They saw that the ground was all wet and knew it had rained. (Well it was a good sprinkle). They wanted to go outside and play. But they thought it would be cold and so they wanted to wear their jackets. It was 90 degrees outside!! They begged and begged and so of course I finally gave in. It has been breaking records here and so the boys had a blast finally getting to play outside. Here are a few cute pics!!

Happy Birthday Boys!

Today is Carter and Mason's 3rd Birthday!! I can't believe it has been 3 years. The time has flown by. It is crazy to think how far they have come in the last 3 years. They were born 8 weeks premature and were always behind developmentally. They didn't walk til 14 months (thank heavens for that), Carter didn't even start talking (not even mommy or daddy) till 16 months. Today, they each know their colors, they can count to 10, they know their shapes, and they say 6-9 word sentences all the time. To me they have come a long way and I am so amazed at how smart they are!! We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Happy Birthday Boys!! Today is your Day!!

California 2009

Ok, this is going to be a long post. It has been so long since our family has gone on a vacation and so lots of pics were taken. We went to Cali this past weekend. We left at 5am on Friday morning and drove to LA to see lots of Matt's family!!
Saturday
Saturday we drove to San Diego for Matt's cousin's wedding. I just realized that no pictures were taken of the beautiful bride, but she was gorgeous. Here are some pics of the boys around the Temple.

Best Buds!!

Uncle Chris helping out by letting Mason watch a movie on his phone. How cute are they!!!

My sexy man!! He hates getting his picture taken!!

Sunday
No trip to LA would be complete without a stop to the Orange County Swap Meet. We went there on Sunday. It was sooo HOTTT!!! But we got some new luggage so it was worth it. We also hit the beach. The boys loved it. It almost makes me want to move to Cali just so we can be closer to one.

Carter was afraid of the water. Here he is running away from it!!

Monday

On Monday we went to Disneyland. I really think this is the happiest place on the earth. I was up before Matt and the boys. I couldn't sleep I was so excited to go. It was a very HOT day. It was 103 and it broke a record for the day. I think we spent over $35 on water alone. That didn't stop us from having fun. Mason thought every ride was a choo choo train. The boys met the height requirement for Matterhorn and so we took them on that. Mason thought it was a scary choo choo train, but Carter says it was fun. Their favorite one was the new Toy Story ride. The boys had a blast!!!

We found out as we rode the tram back to the parking garage that Mason loved that ride. So all I have to do is take the kid back and forth on it and not even go inside the park?? He of course thought it was a choo choo train and he took his time saying good bye to it as we left. He even told the tram he loved it!!!

What a day and of course we were exhausted. I can't wait to go back!!!

Carter waiting for the parade to start. He saw it coming!!!
Look at those swollen eyes! That is what sun and no nap will do!

Reflections of Christ

The boys love to watch this video called The Reflections of Christ by Mark Mabry. I have it saved in my favorites and they, especially Mason, ask to watch it all the time. Mason will even hit replay over and over again. It cracks me up. I love how eager they are to learn more about the gospel. It makes my job that much easier. Here are pictures of them watching it the other day and one of Mason last month. They set such great examples to Matt and I.

I Love my Family

I know that I am biased, but I think I have the cutest boys ever! We got these pictures a few months ago. Don't ask what Mason is doing in the second picture. He wasn't saying SHHHHH! I think his finger was in his mouth and we asked him to take it out and that is how the shot turned out. I was just glad they didn't fall into the water. The family photo is not the best. The boys were staring up at the sky. But oh well!!

We find out on Monday what we are having. I do not care at all if it is a boy or girl. Just a healthy baby would be nice!! We do know it is just one baby this time. I will post about it on Monday, although I think only about 2 people follow my blog now since I am the worst at updating it!

Wildlife Zoo

On Wednesday we went to the Wildlife Zoo!! It was a far drive, but well worth it! We had a blast. I loved this zoo because it is much smaller than the Phoenix Zoo. And it has just about the same amount of animals. They just had them in smaller areas and you could ACTUALLY see them! Plus the boys got to walk most of the time and enjoy it up close.

One of the best things about this zoo is being able to feed the animals. Of course hand sanitizer was our best friend throughout the day! The best was the giraffes. They come right up to you and eat from your hand with their long and gooey tounges.

Mason loved the train ride as he is obsessed with those things. Carter got tuckered close to the end of the day. He fell asleep while eating a snack. It was a great day and we can't wait to go back.
